Reading

Open the world of reading for your children.   If your children do not have Denver Public Library Cards, go to your branch library and sign up.  Residents of  Denver are eligible for cards at no cost.  You will need to bring two forms of identification: a Colorado ID/Drivers's License and Social Security Card for example.  Children may receive cards when accompanied by a parent/guardian with the required 2 ID's.

Take the time to read with your children. Remember that Denver Public Schools has the read a Million Words program.  Each book your child reads will help them attain the million word goal.

Books by Joseph Bruchac and Paul Goble are always a good choice.  Here are some other good titles that children of any age will enjoy.

The Good Luck Cat by Joy Harjo
The Gift Horse by S.D. Nelson
The Goat in the Rug by Charles Blood and Martin Link
The Great Ballgame by Joseph Bruchac
Seasons of the Circle by Joseph Bruchac
Two Old Women by Velma Wallis
The People Shall Continue by Simon Ortiz
Dancing Teepees by Virginia Driving Hawk Sneve
The Return of the Buffalo by Paul Goble
Iktomi Loses His Eyes by Paul Goble
